Abstract

1453384 Metal working presses MOSKOV AVTOMEKHANICHE INST and VORONESH ZAVOD TYAZHELYKH MEKHANICHE PRESSOV 17 Oct 1974 45575/74 Heading B3H [Also in Division F2] A metal working press for hot forging, cold extrusion or stamping has a drive comprising a crankshaft 4, a clutch 6 and a flywheel 5 connected by the clutch to the crankshaft, the mass of the flywheel being such that its kinetic energy is expanded in one revolution of the crankshaft when the slide block 9 is performing an operation or a workpiece. The flywheel 5 is also clutched to an outer larger flywheel 3 driven by an electric motor 1 by belts 2<SP>1</SP>. In operation the clutch connects the flywheels 3, 5 but disconnects the flywheel 5 from the crankshaft during acceleration of the flywheels. The clutch then disconnects the flywheels and connects the flywheel 5 to the crankshaft for a working stroke. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 4, only one flywheel 33 is clutched to the crankshaft and driven by a hydraulic motor 30 through a gear 31. Several synchronously operated hydraulic motors, Fig. 5 (not shown), may drive the flywheel. In a further embodiment the flywheel (35), Fig. 7 (not shown), forms the rotor of an induction motor with arcuate stator segments (36), Fig. 8 (not shown). In a further embodiment, Fig. 10, several induction motors drive respective gears 39 engaged with the flywheel 37.
