Abstract

1453162 Paper feeding VICTOR COMPTOMETER CORP 15 Aug 1974 [8 Nov 1973] 35951/74 Heading B6F Paper handling mechanism for a serial printer comprises a rotatable platen 52 supported by a shaft 57 and releasable so as to be swung away from printing position, drive means for the platen, and a paper roll support which imposes a drag on a paper roll mounted thereon. A paper roll is mounted on a spool having an end plate 111 formed with fingers 112 having projections 114 which engage one edge of the roll. The spool is mounted on a spindle 106 so that the other edge of the roll engages an arm 104 to impose a drag on the paper 51 unwound from the roll. The paper passes between the platen 52 and a pressure roller 73, the platen being swingable on an arm 59 away from the pressure roller. The platen is rotated for line spacing either by a drive shaft (22, Fig. 2, not shown) through gears (29, 92, 94) or manually, when a resilient coupling between the platen and the final gear is discoupled.
