Abstract

1452513 Lubricants ESSO RESEARCH & ENG CO 29 May 1974 [24 Aug 1973] 40181/73 Heading C5F A lubricating oil composition comprises a base oil, a detergent or dispersant additive, a "fatty acid" and a "fatty acid amide", both as defined. The "fatty acid" is monocarboxylic and has 3 to 26 carbon atoms per molecule; it may be saturated, unsaturated or aromatic, several are listed. A mixture of two or more such acids may be used. The amide too is derived from a monocarboxylic acid of 3 to 26 carbon atoms. The detergent additive may be a metallic salt, which may be overbased, or may be ashless; several are listed. The base oil may be animal, vegetable, mineral or a synthetic ester (several listed).
