Abstract
1452500 Excavators PRIESTMAN BROS Ltd 12 Feb 1975 [21 Dec 1973 10 Jan 1974] 59617/73 and 01197/74 Heading E1F A load handling machine, e.g. a crane or excavator, comprises an inner mast section 10, 11 pivotally mounted at 12 to the machine body 7, an outer mast section 15 mounted on the inner mast section and having a load handling implement at its outer end, a chart which adopts a position responsive to the position of the inner mast section relative to the body, and a cursor 36 which adopts a position responsive to the position of the outer mast section relative to the inner mast section and which is movable over the chart to provide an indication relating the position of the implement relative to the body. The pivoting of the inner mast section rotates, via sliding core cable 29 and linkage 23, 25, a drum 20 on which the drum is mounted. The pivoting of the outer relative to the inner mast section moves, via sliding core cable 39 and linkage 34, 35, the cursor along the drum axis. The relative movement of the mast sections may be transmitted hydraulically or electrically.
