Abstract

The starting compounds have the formulae <IMAGE> (R1 to R6, X and An<(-)> have the meaning stated in claim 1) and are heated up at 110 to 140 DEG C to rearrange to the compound of the formula <IMAGE> Compounds (II) with X = -CN and R4 = R5 = H are obtained by reacting corresponding compounds which have a chlorine or bromine atom in place of the radical -NR1R2 with an amine HNR1R2. It is then possible in the same step to heat further to form (I). The trisaminopyridines can be further processed to, for example, azo dyes.
