Abstract

1451516 Electrostatic printing FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 5 Sept 1974 [7 Sept 1973] 38888/74 Heading G2H Printing element 1 comprises an insulating base 2 and an electrically conductive surface layer 3, which is locally removed to reveal imagewise areas 4a, 4b of the base. In use the element is electrically charged to form a developable image on the areas 4a, 4b, and build-up of potential differences on the remaining sections, 3a, 3b, 3c of layer 3 is prevented by earthing them both during and after charging. Preferably coating is carried out by diagonal wires 15a, by a mesh of wires or by a succession of rollers as the printing element is fed between feed drum 10 and a corona charger. Earthing is also carried out by conductive infeed and outfeed rollers 14 and 16, which contact the surface of the printing element as it passes them.
