Abstract

1451332 Vehicle ground engaging ramps FRANCE ARMED FORCES MINISTER OF 28 Sept 1973 [28 Sept 1972] 45618/73 Heading B8E [Also in Divisions B7 and E1] Bridging apparatus which may be an amphibious or land only vehicle, a boat a pneumatic float or a trail bridge comprises, a bridge element 2 pivotally connected at 4 to a carrier 1, an arm 6 pivotally connected at one end to the carrier and at the other to adjustable supporting means 7 which is pivotally connected to the bridging element at a point remote from the axis 4, and drive means 9 operable to turn the bridge element and said arm about said axis 4. Means 10 are provided for locking the bridge in the extended position. The arm 6 is H-section and the drive means comprises a jack 13 having respective ends pivoted to the carrier and the crossbar of the H. The supporting means 7 comprises a pair of parallel jacks 8 pivotally connecting the ends of the links of the H-section with the bridging element. The supporting jacks 8 allow the bridge in its fully extended condition to be adjusted between + 30 and - 20 degrees relative to horizontal. In a second embodiment the drive means is provided by an isosceles triangular plate 14 and a pair of drive jacks 15 and 16.
