Abstract
1450872 Combine harvester grain discharge control CLAAS MASCHINENFABRIK GmbH Gebr 8 Aug 1974 [20 Aug 1973] 35034/74 Heading A1F A combine harvester grain tank discharge pipe screw conveyor 10 receives its drive via a Cardan shaft 11 whose universal joint 13 is driven by the worm shaft 4 of the grain tank conveyor. When the worm shaft 4 is stopped the universal joint may not be in a rotational position which would allow pivoting of the discharge pipe 8 without damage. To prevent this the pipe 8 or swivel housing 7 is provided with a stop 16 which, upon pivoting of the pipe 8, engages one of four pegs 15 (if the joint position is potentially dangerous) mounted on an annular flange 14 fixed to the worm shaft 4. The resultant 45‹ indexing of the peg places the universal joint in a rotational position which allows damage free pivoting of the discharge pipe. The stop 16 comprises a roller 19, which is to engage the pegs 15, and a ramp 21 which prevents a peg 15" from taking the position of peg 15' after the latter has been engaged by the roller.
