Abstract

1450870 Timber framework; timber framing members MIDWEST HOUSING RESEARCH CORP 27 Feb 1974 [7 March 1973] 8849/74 Heading E1W [Also in Division F2] A timber framework for a building comprises beams 10, connectors 20 and columns (30). the beams being fixed to each other and to the connectors by joints wherein each element is stepped at the joint end and has a reduced width portion, e.g. 13, (Fig. 3), which fits into a groove or slot in the end portion 12 of the other element. The connectors are arranged in mutually inverted pairs at each joint, resulting in protruding ends on the outside of the building, which can be used for a sun deck, e.g. Each column (30) has a spigot at one end which passes through a hole formed through the interengaged connectors. The elements are preferably of plywood, and can be used in conjunction with panels with, e.g. a coating of foamed plastics sprayed or trowelled thereon, forming internal and external walls.
