Abstract

1450808 Pneumatic shuttle station SIEMENS AG 9 Nov 1973 [13 Nov 1972] 52018/73 Heading B8A In a pneumatic shuttle conveyer system, a despatch, reception and transit station is also capable of transfer of shuttles to a second conveyer string. In Fig. 1, switch member W in the position shown, derives shuttles from conveyer string F to reception chamber E, after braking the shuttle by means of air cushion formed when the member W is seated against sealing surface D. Slightly to the left of sealing surface D is the position of member W for transit of shuttles through the station along conveyer string F. Further left is the position of member W to transfer shuttles from string F to string FA. Pivoting of member W is controlled by contact fk. Fig. 2 shows an alternative embodiment with two mutually independent switching members R and WK. Member R is a tube section which may be moved out of the position shown such that the diverting section A is in position to deflect shuttles arriving along tube F into conveyer string FA, with member WK in the position shown. Pivoting of member WK to rest against the left-hand projection V deflects shuttles from tube F via pendulum valve K to receiving chamber E. When member R is in this outward position, shuttles may be inserted in this tube section for despatch.
