1450072 Electronic timepieces CITIZEN WATCH CO Ltd 24 Sept 1973 [20 Oct 1972 21 May 1973] 25622/74 Divided out of 1450071 Heading G3T In an electronic timepiece such as is described in Specification 1450071, wherein a time standard oscillator is followed by a frequency divider chain producing a time unit signal which is fed to counters the content of which is used to drive a time display, a control circuit is provided to regulate the running rate of the timepiece of adjusting the time kept by the counters by a predetermined pre-set amount at predetermined instances of time; an input terminal means is provided at which an external signal is applied to modify the control circuit and change the pre-set amount. In Fig. 4, the count in a timekeeping counter 44 is compared with a reference stored in a memory in the control circuit 45 which varies the input signal to the counter by the pre-set amount and at predetermined instances in accordance with the stored reference, to correct the running rate. In Fig. 5B, the control circuit includes a detecting circuit 55 connected to compare the value N" of the current counting state of a frequency divider 54 with information stored in a memory 57. The information stored is the predetermined amount of correction value No and a value N corresponding to the predetermined instances of time at which correction is to be made. When the values N' and N" become equal a setting means 56 operates so that the correction value No is applied to the input of divider 54. This in effect changes the division ratio and consequently modifies the time circuit signal applied to the timekeeping counter (not shown).
