1449320 Rod strainers MAX PAUL & SOEHNE MASCHINENFABRIK 20 Feb 1974 [20 Feb 1973] 7663/74 Heading F2G [Also in Division F1] An hydraulic apparatus for tensioning tie strands 14 in a pre-stressed structure, comprises an anchor plate 12 for mounting on the structure, the plate having apertures 13 for the strands and clamping wedges 15, the anchor plate mounting front and rear head members 1, 2, a clamping plate 17 with apertures 18 and wedges 19 carried by a cylinder 5 movable within the housing tube forming part of the head member 1 and away from the anchor plate to tension the strands 14, and an annular pressing piston 6 reciprocable within the cylinder 5 and the head member 1, the piston 6 having mounted therein a passing and threading member 22 formed by guide tubes 35 of the strands 14 and a connecting plate 20 which an actuation of the piston 6 can engage the wedges 15 to clamp the strands 14 to the anchor plate 12. A connecting plate 22a is provided to hold the tubes 35 at the end of the member 22 remote from the plate 20 and the tubes may extend beyond the plate 22a sufficiently far to release the wedges 19 in the clamping plate 17 when the piston 6 is moved to the right as viewed in Fig. 1. The wedges 15 may be carried by the plate 20, if desired. To this end the wedges are provided with a circumferential groove 28, Fig. 5, and held in a coupling plate 25 carried by the plate 20, or alternatively held in place by segment members 29 having flanges to engage in the grooves 28 of the wedges and to engage round the outer edge of the member 22. In this case a screw threaded rod 24 screwed into the plate 25 and engaging the anchor plate 12 may be used to disengage the wedges 15 where required. The clamping plate 17 may be simply mounted on the cylinder 5 as shown in Fig. 1 or secured thereto by quick release clamps.
