Abstract

1449173 Supports for washbasins etc.; wall brackets ARMITAGE SHANKS GROUP Ltd 26 April 1974 [28 April 1973] 20331/73 Headings A4B and A4N A device for supporting an article of sanitary ware e.g. a washbasin, a urinal or a bidet, on the surface of a wall, comprises a portion 10 for attachment to the surface, an abutment portion 13 extending from the attachment portion at an angle such as to provide a recess in which a downwardly projecting portion of the basin &c. may be accommodated, a member 20 pivoting about an axis extending transversely of portion 10 adapted to engage the basin &c. at an end 20a, and means, e.g. a screw 22, for pivoting member 20 so as to draw said projecting portion of the basin into said recess. Attachment portion 10 may be elongate with an abutment portion 13 and a member 20 at each end in substantially mirror image relationship, and the portions 10 and 13 may be formed integrally. Member 20 may be a rod arranged as a first order lever with an intermediate portion engaging with a fulcrum 16. An L-shaped bracket (not shown) may be connected centrally to the attachment portion 10, with one limb extending horizontally to support a waste fitting. The vertical limb of the bracket is preferably adjustable vertically to accommodate variations in the dimensions of the washbasin &c. Portion 10 may be provided with corbels to be sunk and bonded into the wall.
