Abstract

1448743 Light guides POST OFFICE 6 Aug 1974 [24 Aug 1973] 34599/74 Divided out of 1448741 Heading G2J A coupler for light guides comprises a socket 25 and a plug 26 each rigidly secured to a light guide 13, 14 and each incorporating a guideway therefor. In the socket 25 the guideway is a bore in a member 10 axially slidable in the socket; in the plug 26 the guideway is a bore in a member 11 into which the light guide 14 partially extends. The bores are aligned, so that entry of the plug into the socket pushes the member 10 to the left until the light guides are in contact, Fig. 4 (not shown). The coupler may comprise a plurality of parallel plug and socket connections, see Fig. 5, (not shown), the members 10, 11 being located in parallel holes in cylinders (16, 17).
