Abstract

1448216 Humidifier R S HOPKINS 7 Jan 1974 [12 Jan 1973] 1671/73 Heading B1R A humidifier comprises a water container 1 with a transparent plastics tube 2 with a removable closure 5, two rectangular tanks 3 and small bore tubes 3 connecting 2 to the tanks, wherein the larger vertical walls of each tank 3 are formed of rigid porous membranes 3 which are contacted in parts by sheets of absorbent paper or asbestos 8 in zig-zag shape and contained in trunking 9, and an electric fan 11 being provided to force air to be humidified through channels 10 formed by 8. The porous membrane 7 may be high density polythene or ceramic treated with silicone hydrophobic agent with the pores partially filled with calcium sulphate. A light 16 (Fig. 2) may also be provided. The humidifier may also be used to add perfume or germicide to air. A heater element 13 prewarms the air before humidification. For Figures see next column
