Abstract
1448161 Fixing apparatus XEROX CORP 16 May 1974 [21 May 1973] 21803/74 Heading G2H [Also in Division B8] Sheets leaving the fuser section 15 of a xerographic copying apparatus are passed between a pair of rollers 40, 41 whose spacing is arranged to extinguish any flames emanating from the heated sheets. The rollers preferably serve to transport the sheet and for this purpose at least one is provided with sheet engaging projections 42. The rollers may be biased together e.g. by spring 91 to provide a transport nip. The preferred roller spacing is up to 0.05 inches and at least one of the rollers may comprise a metal core and an overlayer of resinous elastomeric material (e.g. silicone rubber) containing a conductive filler (e.g. carbon black) to discharge the sheets. Fuser station The sheets are passed over a platen 30, preheated by heater 34 and are exposed to quartz lamp 31 which fuses the toner. A forced air cooling chamber 33 is provided about the backside of the reflector assembly 32. Slacking sheets The sheets leaving rollers 40 and 41 are engaged by further rollers 60 one of which includes a propelling device 61 to move the sheets into alignment against stop 72 of tray 70.
