Abstract

1448134 N - Phenylglycine - epoxide reaction products UNITED STATES SECRETARY OF HEALTH EDUCATION & WELFARE 20 Dec 1973 59184/73 Heading C3B [Also in Division C2] Materials, useful in preparing primers for dental varnishes, comprise reaction products of an N-phenylglycine (NPG) of general formula in which A and C are each H or CH 3 and B is H, CH 3 , OCH 3 or p-chlorophenoxy and a glycidyl ether selected from: bisphenol A-, tetrachlorobisphenol A-, glycerol-, resorcinol-chlorinated hydroquinone-, ethylene glycoldiglycidyl ethers, diglycidyl thioethers of dithiols, tetraglycidoxytetraphenylethane and epoxy novolac resins. Reaction takes place in acetone, chloroform or diethyl ether at 25-70‹ C. for 2-4 hours using sufficient NPG to satisfy each glycidyl ether group present.
