Abstract

1447289 Linkwork E H GREEN and E H GREEN Jnr 20 Dec 1973 [25 Sept 1973] 59235/73 Heading F2K [Also in Division F1] In an oscillating-vane I.C. engine (see Division F1) each vane 1 is mounted for oscillation on a two-piece shaft 2 having at its free end a radial arm 6 pivoted to one end of a connecting rod 1 which is eccentrically mounted on a disc 9. As the vane 1 oscillates the disc 9 is rotated to drive the main shaft 22 via gear wheels 12, 21. The two piece shaft 2 is interconnected by a tongue and slot 4, 5 which allows for slight misalignment of the two shaft portions due to thermal expansion of the combustion chambers of the engine relative to the gear casing.
