Abstract
1446899 Luminescent screens HITACHI Ltd 4 Dec 1973 [4 Dec 1972] 56248/73 Heading H1D Exposure apparatus for forming a colour tube fluorescent screen includes a synthetic resin (e.g. acrylic resin), correction lens 5 with means 7 to eliminate u.v. rays of short wavelength (e.g. <320 mÁ) that deteriorate the light transmissibility characteristic of the correction lens. Elimination may be by a plate of white or blue glass, conventional glass coated with a u.v. absorber, e.g. derivatives of an ester of salicyclie acid, a white glass collimator which also provides a point light source, or light source cooling means impregnated with an absorption agent. Cross-sectional uniformity of the intensity may be improved by a graded filter. Fig. 4 (not shown) includes u.v. source (20), collimator (21), and air or water cooling member (22). Collimator (21) may be quartz glass with a u.v. absorber in member (22) (e.g. an ester as above) or a glass absorbing short wavelength u.v.
