Abstract

1446663 Game boards; targets; darts &c W H SCHAPER & C F FOLEY [trading as RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT] 10 May 1974 [11 May 1973] 20843/74 Headings A6H and A6S A board for a game somewhat like darts has fingers projecting from it to receive a portion of a thrown projectile and frictionally retain the projectile. Either the fingers are resilient, or the projectile has a resilient portion to grip between rigid fingers. As shown, a game board made of clear plastics &c 11 is formed with resilient fingers 12, Figs. 1, 2. A safety dart having a shank 21 (see also Fig. 4) has its head 24 of such a diameter as to be gripped between any three of the projections 12 when thrown at the board 10. A rubber plug 28 within the dart head has a tip 29 projecting in front of the dart, which has a feather end 22. A lip 13, Fig. 2, around the lower edges of the dart board supports a target sheet 14 visible through the board and indicating the scoring areas. A bull's eye 15, Fig. 1, is indicated by a rubber-band 45 stretched around the central fingers 12. Headed sleeves (46), Fig. 3 (not shown) and a tool (50) are provided to facilitate positioning the rubber band 45 on the fingers. An animal outline or funny figure may also be fashioned with the rubber band In a modification, the fingers 12 on the board are rigid, and a safety dart having a rubber ring (41), Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), around its head is gripped and retained on the board by compression of the ring between the fingers.
