Abstract

1445054 Sheet forming SALADIN AG 25 April 1974 [25 April 1973] 18237/74 Heading B5A A press for making a shaped article from a plastics sheet 17, e.g. a floor covering for a motor vehicle, comprises a grid-like member 11 mounted on a pivoted arm 2 adapted to be moved in a mould part 15 by a ram 4, and the member 11 has at least one inwardly bulged portion 18 which corresponds with a yieldable wall portion 19 in the part 15. In Fig. 2, the portion 19 is formed by a cap mounted so as to be loaded inwardly by springs 30, 31. The wall portion can be formed by plastically deformable material, e.g. lead sheet, or elastic material, e.g. rubber. A cutter 33 is associated with a recess 34. A jacket 35 can be used to remove by suction pieces stamped from the sheet by cutter 33, or gases developed during the moulding process. Heating, cooling or chemical treatment medium can be passed through the tubes of the grid-like member.
