Abstract

1444769 Bolts C I WILLIAMS 25 Oct 1973 [31 Oct 1972] 49784/73 Heading F2H [Also in Division E1] In a tie for concrete wall formwork, the tie rod 20 has screw-threaded ends and at least one central offset portion 29, the offset portion being arcuate with an inside radius of curvature 30 of from 4 to 6 times the rod diameter 38, and the maximum transverse extent of offsetting 32 being from <SP>3</SP>/ 16 to <SP>5</SP>/ 16 of the rod diameter. Preferably the former dimension is 4¢ times the rod diameter and the latter is “ of the rod diameter. The central arcuate portion merges into the straight portions of the rod through arcuate portions of opposite curvature with an inside radius 34 or 35 of at least the rod diameter. The rod is made of severely cold-worked steel.
