Abstract

1444708 Valves BORSIG GmbH 17 Jan 1975 [26 Jan 1974] 2243/75 Heading F2V [Also in Division F1] A delivery valve for a compressor comprises a seat plate 1 having a number of slots controlled by a steel valve plate 4 having a number of resilient fingers 6 and a lift limiting plate 7 having a number of rigid fingers 8 making a sharp angle at 9 with the remainder of the plate. The distance b to the root of the valve fingers is equal to or smaller than the distance a (not shown) to the end of the slots but the distance c to the root of the fingers of the lift-limiting plate is greater than b. It is stated that by this arrangement the valve member will flex as shown and not pivot about the point 9 with resulting fatigue failure. The lift-limiting fingers are made wider and longer than the valve fingers and may have slots or holes through them to assist in preventing the valve fingers from sticking to them. Fig. 5 (not shown) illustrates a method of installing the valve in a planetary piston rotary compressor. The valve is held in place by a cup-shaped clamping member (20) itself held in place by an outlet spigot (19) screw-threaded into the compressor casing.
