Abstract
1444358 V/STOL aircraft ROLLS-ROYCE (1971) Ltd 10 Dec 1973 [8 Nov 1972 (2)] 51403/72 & 51404/72 Heading B7G In a V/STOL aircraft the rotatable nozzles 13a, 13b and 14a, 14b of a gas turbine power plant, Fig. 3 (not shown), are located above the aircraft centre of gravity P to reduce the roll effect of cross-winds during vertical movement or hovering. The power plant comprises a pair of gas turbine jet engines (21, 22) arranged in back-to-back relationship longitudinally within the fuselage. The rear engine (22) is shut-down during forward flight and its nozzles 14a, 14b retracted.
