Abstract

1443751 Offshore structures INGENIOR F SELMER AS 12 June 1973 [13 June 1972] 27946/73 Heading E1H An offshore structure comprises a base formed from a plurality of hollow vertical cylindrical or prismatic bodies 2 arranged to define void spaces 13 between adjacent bodies, and platform-supporting columns 12 mounted over some of the void spaces the lower ends at least of the columns conforming in crosssection to the shape of the void spaces. The bodies 2 are preferably closed at top and bottom and form ballast or storage spaces. The lower ends of the bodies terminate in a skirt 10 defining a space which may be subjected to suction via pipes located inside the columns 13 to secure the structure. The bodies 2 may be arranged in a staggered array to form substantially triangular-sectioned void spaces, or they may be octagonal to form square-sectioned void spaces, Figs. 3, 4, 6 (not shown). The structure is formed of cast concrete and is provided with breakwater means in the form of discs 40 slidably mounted on the columns 12 and having locking means to secure the discs in a given position.
