Abstract

1443219 Bromination of polymer latices ARCO POLYMERS Inc 16 Nov 1973 [6 Dec 1972] 53444/73 Heading C3P Unsaturated polymers in latex form are brominated by adding thereto a bromine-in-water emulsion containing 15-30 wt. per cent bromine. The polymer may be a conjugated diene homopolymer or a diene/alkenyl aromatic copolymer optionally containing up to 10% of a further monomer. Examples describe the bromination of copolymers of butadiene with styrene and either acrylic acid or itaconic acid.
