Abstract
1443022 Wrapping fibre before stapling W HURTES 13 Aug 1973 2602/76 Heading B8G [Also in Divisions D1-D2] Oriented fibres 26 are fed into a funnel member 25 to form a cylinder 28 which is wrapped with a sheet of thermoplastics material 21 whose edges are sealed to close the cylinder by heated rollers 31. The column 28 is cut transversely by cutting discs 39 into pile yarn units 47 which are gripped by a device 55 by tabs 60 formed by the sealed edges of the thermoplastic sheet 21. They are transported and deposited in vertical stacks in cylindrical storage members 92. A clamp at the bottom of each storage member 92 is controlled to selectively deposit pile fibre units 47 on conveyers 123, which transport them to a plate 139, where a bar 146 grips tabs 60, and after the thermoplastic cover has been ruptured by sawtooth formations 161 on a bar 16 removes them.
