Abstract

1442937 Silver oxide primary cells DAINI SEIKOSHA KK 9 Sept 1974 [11 Sept 1973 26 Dec 1973] 39214/74 Heading H1B A primary cell comprises negative active material 4, a separator 6 and positive active material 7 consisting of divalent silver oxide and amorphous carbon. The cell includes an anode can 2 sealed to a cathode can 1 by a packing 3. An electrolyte absorber 5 and the cellulose separator 6 separate the anode and cathode chambers. The positive active material is formed by a mixture of divalent silver oxide powder and amorphous carbon powder. The carbon may be charcoal, activated carbon, carbon black or powdered coke. The electrolyte comprises an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide with zinc oxide. Sodium or magnesium bromide or an oxyhalogenic salt may be added to the electrolyte. The negative active material consists of mercury added to zinc powder.
