1442270 Tunnel lining RHEINSTAHL GIESSEREI AG 1 Feb 1974 [9 Feb 1973] 04866/74 Heading E1F A lining for a tunnel made by the "out and fill" method includes sheet piles 1 for the sides of the tunnel and a series of roof section members 2 having an arcuate or other channel cross-section which are connected to the sheet piles 1 by means of arouate corner members 6 at the top corners of the tunnel. The roof members 2 and corner members 6 are made of cast steel and each roof member may consist of sections 2, 2a, 2b, joined end to end by welding. Each corner member 6 (Fig. 4) has at one end 5 the cross section of the sheet pile I, and at the other end the cross section of the roof member 2 and sheet piles 1 by welding The roof members 2 are provided with flanges so that adjacent roof members can be connected together by welding or by bolts.
