Abstract

1441789 Lockable hinges; window stops STANTEK AS 2 Nov 1973 [3 Nov 1972] 51092/73 Headings E1J and E2F A hinge comprises hinge members 1 and 2, adapted to be secured to a window sash and a fixed frame respectively, with a joint member 3 pivotally connected at 4, 5 to the respective hinge members, a pin 6 on one member guided in a groove 7 on the other, and blocking means for preventing further and/or return movement of the hinge members from a predetermined relative position. Such means includes a catch 8 pivoted to the hinge member 1 and having a notch (12) engageable with a notch (13) on pivot 4, Fig. 2 (not shown), to prevent the window being opened beyond an angle and unless the catch 8 is raised by inserting a screwdriver through aperture 15. A further catch 9 has a notch (19) engageable with the lug (13) to retain the window after it has been opened through 180‹, Fig. 5 (not shown). As described the hinge is used with its axis horizontal and the catches are urged into engagement with the lug (13) solely by gravity, but they may be spring-loaded so as to be independent of the orientation of the hinge. The pivot 5 may be an adjustable friction 'bearing.
