Abstract
1441498 Rotary positive-displacement fluidmachines B ZIMMERN 23 Oct 1974 [31 Oct 1973] 45909/74 Heading F1F An air compressor 11 driven by an I.C. engine 1, which may be of the Diesel type, is injected with a liquid through an intake 21 and is supplied with air by a turbocharger 4 at the engine exhaust manifold 3, the absolute pressure of the air discharged by the turbocharger being in the range of 1À2 to 1À5 bars and the gauge delivery pressure of the compressor being at least 7 bars. The liquid may be separated from the compressed air in a reservoir 15 and returned to the compressor by way of a radiator 18. An unloading valve 9 is closed when the pressure in the reservoir reaches an upper limit.
