Abstract

1441058 Heading IWATANI SANGYO KK and I UOZUMI 19 June 1974 27237/74 Heading B3H A punch 33 for making a cruciform recess in a screw head comprises a shank 21 and a head 22 composed of a tapered portion with cruciform ribs and a conical end portion 23. The ribs each have a flat outer face 24 and side faces 25. The side faces 25 of adjacent ribs are connected by an intermediate wall 26 formed of a pair of curved sections 30, 31 of different radii 27, 28, Fig. 7. The larger radii curved section 30 has its centre of curvatuve off the bisector 29 of the angle between the ribs. In use a screw driver (36), Figs. 10-12 (not shown), engages the curved sections of the recess at eight points (31a), (31b) (30a), (30b) to retain a screw on the end of the screw driver.
