Feeding-devices for granular and like materials. -In a feed-hopper of the hollow inverted-cone type for corn and like grinding-mills, having the outlet controlled by a conical plug, the plug e is situated so that it is entirely housed within the hopper outlet a<1>. Also the spindle d carrying the plug is provided with a screw-and-nut adjustment for varying the outlet opening, and is arranged so that it is free to be turned or directly lifted by means of an attached knob g for relief in case of choking. The spindle is screw-threaded for part of its length to receive a nut f, and passes freely through a plain hole c<1> in a bush c on a bridge-piece b fitted within the top of the hopper a, the nut f resting on the top of the bush. The spindle may be mechanically agitated to avoid choking.
