Abstract
1440352 Sheet cutting apparatus HASHIMOTO DENKI CO Ltd 8 Oct 1973 [24 Oct 1972] 46870/73 Heading B5L Automatic sheet cutting apparatus, Fig. 2 (c), e.g. for veneer comprises a main spindle 3 arranged to be rotated under the control of an intermittent driving means, an eccentric shaft 4 rotated by the main spindle, a movable cutter 8 arranged to make one up and down movement during one rotation of the spindle, a fixed cutter 9 disposed in opposition to the movable cutter, a feed in conveyer 10, a delivery conveyer 11, a cam shaft 21 connected to the main spindle 3 at the rotational ratio of 1 : 2 and a swingable conveyer 25 adjacent the conveyer 11. Swing- ing of the conveyer 25 is controlled by engagement of a lever 27 secured thereto with a cam 26 on the shaft 21 and the arrangement is such that when the spindle 3 makes one rotation, causing the shaft 21 to rotate 180 degrees the conveyer 25 swings to form a bridge between the cutter 9 and the conveyer 11, Fig. 2(c), to allow transfer of an article 17, and when the spindle 3 makes another rotation causing the shaft 21 to rotate another 180 degrees the conveyer 25 swings to open the bridge between the cutter 9 and the conveyer 11, Fig. 2(B), to allow separation and fall of swarf 16. In a second embodiment, Fig. 4(A), a second cam, 29, is provided on the shaft 21 and controls a lever 30 connected to a strike down pawl 28 which is operated to strike the swarf 16 and move it downwardly prior to lowering of the swingable conveyer 25. In a third embodiment, Fig. 6, a device, e.g. an air cylinder 33 is provided which operates a lever secured to the swingable conveyer 25 so that the latter can be held in its bridging position whilst the machine is used to cut a number of fixed lengths from sheet material. The device is overridden by an edge detecting means 13 to cause the conveyer 25 to again be positioned by the cam 26. A detecting means is provided to check whether an even or odd number of fixed lengths have been cut and if the latter is the case a further rotation is applied to the spindle 3 to ensure that the edge-cutting operation does not recommence with the cam 26 in the position of Fig. 2(B), and the conveyer 25 raised.
