Abstract
1343068 Cutting sheet RICOH KK 19 April 1971 [30 April 1970] 25974/71 Heading B4B Apparatus for cutting sheet material S comprises a disc-shaped cutter 2 on a shaft 3 supported by an endless belt 4, and means for driving the belt 4 so that the cutter 2 is drawn across the sheet feed path to cut the sheet S in co-operation with a bar 1. To initiate cutting, a stop 25 is released from engagement with a projection 10a of a belt supporting pulley 10, Fig. 4, a supporting shaft 13 then rotating under the action of a spiral spring 16 to drive the belt 4, so that the cutter 2, spring urged against the bar 1, is drawn across the sheet S. As the shaft 13 rotates, a member 21 attached thereto rotates in a direction a, Fig. 5A, until it strikes a blade 20b of a member 20, rotatable on a boss 19a of a gear-wheel 19, a blade 20a of the member 20 thus rotating out of contact with a projection 27a mounted on a pin 28 on the gear-wheel 19. The projection 27a thus rises from engagement with a switch actuator 29a, and an electric motor is actuated by the switch 29 to drive the gear-wheel 19 through a further wheel 24. The shaft 13 and members 20, 21 continue rotation under the action of the spring 16 until the blade 20a of the member 20 contacts a stop 26 on the gear-wheel 19, the members 13, 19, 20, 21 and 26 thus rotating in unison. At the end of the cutting stroke, rotation of the shaft 13 and member 21 is halted by re-engagement of the stop 25 and projection 10a. Rotation of the gear-wheel 19 and the attached spring casing 17 continues, thus winding up the spring 16 for the next cutting operation, until the member 21 is engaged by the blade 20b, thus preventing further movement of the stop 26 in engagement with the blade 20a. Simultaneously, the blade 20a, projection 27a, and actuator 29a re-engage, the drive to the gear-wheel 19 being cut off in readiness for a further cutting stroke. Provision of a locking panel 30 or (113), Figs. 8-9 (not shown), e.g. of synthetic material, prevents rotation of the gear-wheel 19 relative to the shaft 13 under the action of the spring 16. Control.-The stop 25 may be mounted on a lever (31), Fig. 6 (not shown), pivotable by means of an electromagnet (35) acting against a spring (33), a rotary cam (38) actuating the electromagnet (35) in a required sequence. Further, Fig. 7 (not shown), a switch actuated by movement of the cutter 2 may be incorporated in the control circuit.
