Abstract

1440289 Blood standard BAXTER LABORATORIES Inc 5 June 1974 [10 Aug 1973] 24869/74 Heading G1B A blood control standard is made from anticoagulant-stored blood plasma containing elevated levels of dextrose by a method comprising selectively destroying dextrose in the plasma by aerobic fermentation with yeast in the negative acceleration phase or in the stationary phase of the yeast growth. The plasma may be defibrinated then incubated with 0.1 to 10 gm. yeast per litre of plasma for 12 to 24 hours at 20 to 25‹C. The treated plasma is then filtered or centrifuged, and the supernatant may be mixed with a strong cation exchange resin to reduce its cation content and/or may be treated with a chlorinated hydrocarbon to remove its lipo-protein components.
