Abstract
1439704 Electro-photography MITSUBISHI DENKI KK 20 Sept 1973 [20 Sept 1972 (2) 18 Jan 1973] 44152/73 Heading G2H In an apparatus for electro-photographic printing, an electro-photographically sensitive substrate comprised of a charge maintaining layer and a photo-conductive sensitive layer is charged to form an electrical charge image of effectively single polarity corresponding to a light image exposed on the electro-photographically sensitive substrate, the charge image is transferred to a recording substrate, and a conductive member is brought into contact with the surface of the electrophotographically sensitive substrate to transfer residual charge thereon to erase the residual potential or adjust the residual potential to a predetermined value. The conductive roller may comprise a metal roller covered with a low resistance paper, and is connected to either a bias voltage or to earth. The charge maintaining layer may be an insulating layer alone or combined in a composite layer comprising a photo-conductive layer sensitive to radiation in a range outside that of the visible light range, e.g. sensitive to ultraviolet light, to which it may be exposed immediately prior to contacting with the conductive member to aid removal of residual charge. A number of different layer combinations are described.
