Abstract

1439502 Photographic development E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 30 Aug 1973 [31 Aug 1972 9 May 1973] 40937/73 Headings G2C and G2X Exposed photographic films having a silver halid emulsion are developed in a bath of lithographic developer solution in an automatic processor, the developer solution being repetitively replenished by a liquid which includes at least two stable solution concentrates, one of which contains hydroquinone as the sole developing agent and another of which contains a base. The replenishment may be effected on a time basis and/or in dependence on the amount of film processed. The concentrates constituting the replenisher may be premixed before addition or may be added separately; they may also be diluted. In the Examples the first concentrate contains hydroquinone ethylene glycol and sodium formaldehyde bisulphite and the second part contains bases and other additives such as sulphite and a complexing agent; a third concentrate containing bromide, sulphite and possibly other additives may also be added.
