Abstract
1438915 Heating baths of molten material; galvanizing SAG SIEGENER AG 21 March 1974 [21 March 1973] 12666/74 Heading C7F [Also in Division F4] An open bath of molten material M is heated by hot inert gas that is forced by a compressor 2 to bubble through the melt from the tubes 31. The gas is collected by the hoods 17, 18 for recirculation via the pipe-line 25 and compressor 2 to the heater 3 and back to the tank 1. A gas-tight treatment or processing chamber 40 may be provided in the circuit of the inert gas to pre-heat or dry strip W that is treated in the tank. The heater comprises a heat exchanger 4, a burner 6 and a burner air pre-heater 5. Alternatively the burner air may be heated in a heat exchanger by the hot inert gases from the bath before they return to the compressor. A lid 51 may be fitted to the tank, and a separator 26 for collecting molten droplets may be filtered in the hood portion. In alternative embodiments the gas may be supplied through immersion tubes (55), Fig. 5 (not shown) in the centre of the tank, or by single immersion tubes (45), Fig. 4 (not shown) projecting into individual cylindrical separating portions (46) with cup-like hoods (48).
