1438688 Vehicle wheel and tyre assemblies C W CLARK 23 Oct 1974 [26 July 1973] 35592/73 Heading B7C A vehicle wheel rim for a pneumatic tyre comprises a pair of spaced tyre bead retaining flanges 4, 5, a groove 6 for use in tyre fitting adjacent one flange, and spacer means 12 dimensioned to bridge the groove 6 and hold the adjacent tyre bead inwards of the groove when the tyre has been fitted to the rim thereby to prevent displacement of the tyre from the rim on tyre deflation. The spacer means may be non-extensible or extensible, e.g. of rubber, and may seat in a recess 7 in the flange adjacent the groove 6.
