1426913 Pneumatic tyres INDUSTRIE PIRELLI SpA 16 March 1973 [28 March 1972] 12930/73 Addition to 1396428 Heading B7C In an improvement in or modification of the run-flat pneumatic tyre described in Specification 1,396,428, the interior and/or exterior surfaces of the tyre sidewalls are provided with a plurality of slots to permit elastic deformation of said surfaces upon contacting other surfaces of the tyre, or of the wheel on which the tyre is mounted, when the tyre is used in a loaded deflated condition. As shown, the interior and exterior surfaces of a tyre sidewall 3 are provided respectively with slots 8, and with slots 12, 13. The slots 12, 13 intersect to define a series of blocks (14), Fig. 3 (not shown). The tyre is mounted on a rim 5, a bead-spacing element 7 being provided.
