1438647 Detergent bars UNILEVER Ltd 5 Nov 1973 [6 Nov 1972] 51078/72 Heading C5D A detergent bar containing a chlorine-releasing bleach is prepared by mixing (A) organic detergent particles and (B) bleach particles coherently coated with an abradable material, and compressing the particles into bar form. The particles (A) and (B) may be of the same size or of different sizes, but should preferably be in the range of 0À5 to 2À0 mm. diameter. The bar contains 5% to 30% by wt. of bleach. The coating material will abrade at the bar surface containing a substrate, e.g. a fabric or domestic hard surface, by manual pressure exerted on the bar and sliding contact between the bar and substrate. It is preferably a wax dispersible in water at 20‹ to 100‹ C., e.g. paraffin wax m.p.t. 45‹ C. or a C 8 -C 22 fatty acid. (A) is soap, an alkane sulphonate, an olefine sulphonate, an alkyl benzene sulphonate or other suitable synthetic detergent. The soap may be sodium soap tallow 80/coco 20, with or without free fatty acid, e.g. 7¢% coco fatty acid. The bleach may be calcium hypochlorite or a chlorocyanurate.
