Abstract

1417840 Fabric washing compositions UNILEVER Ltd 26 Feb 1973 [29 Feb 1972] 9211/72 Heading C5D A powder detergent formulation suitable for fabric washing comprises, by weight, (A) 12 to 30% of an organic detergent active material, (B) 20 to 50% builder, (C) 10-40% of a material generating bisulphite ions in aqueous solution at pH 6À0 to 9À5 when the formulation is dissolved in water at 2À0 g. per litre. (C) may be sodium sulphite, sodium bisulphite or sodium metabisulphite. It may be coated with stearic acid or a water-soluble salt thereof. (A) may be one or more surfactants which are anionic, nonionic or amphoteric surfactants. (B) may be inorganic or organic. Optional ingredients are (D) enzymes, the effect of which is enhanced in the presence of bisulphite ions; (E) conventional additives. The composition may be in the form of granules or formed into tablets or bars.
