Abstract

1286073 Detergent containing optical brightening agents UNILEVER Ltd 9 Dec 1969 [13 Sept 1968] 43642/68 Heading C5D A detergent composition comprises a cottonsubstantive optical brightening agent subject to degradation by cis-trans isomerization under the action of light and a water-soluble U.V.-absorber not substantive to fabric materials the optical density of which is greater than 0À01 in a 10 p.p.m. aqueous solution. The optical brightening agent may be a substituted trans-triazinyl aminostilbene used in amounts of 0À1 to 0À5% by wt. The U.V.-absorber may be beta-methylumbelliferone. Other components of the aqueous composition may be sodium dodecyl benzene sulphonate, sodium tripolyphosphate, sodium silicate and sodium sulphate.
