Abstract
1438532 Gaseous reduction of ores DIDIER-WERKE AG 5 Feb 1973 [16 Feb 1972] 5656/73 Heading C7D Metallic ore is reduced, preferably continuously, by treatment with a heated reducing gas in a vibrated air-tight vessel from where the reduced product is fed directly to a smelting apparatus without contact with air. In a particular embodiment of apparatus ore is introduced through airlock 6 into the vessel 1 which is supported on swinging levers 4 and oscillated by eccentric 10. Reducing gas is introduced through porous bricks 2 arranged peripherally or in a helical path along the vessel, and the ore is discharged through a second gate 6 and closed chute 7. Conditions in the reactor are monitored by pressure and temperature sensors 8, 9.
