Abstract

1438454 Gear-cutting; beds and frames WERKZEUGMASCHINENKOMBINAT 7 OKTOBER BERLIN VEB 30 Jan 1974 [2 Feb 1973] 04320/74 Headings B3K and B3B A machine for cutting bevel gears by the index-generating method comprises a tool stand 4, with a tool generating drum 5, a work stand 11 having a work spindle 58, the stands being connected by a crossbeam 14, and drive means 15, 16, above the work stand, connected to the tool drive 56, 57, and the work drive 51, 63 by a shaft 17. Work stand 11 is slidable on guides 12, 13, on a slide 9, which latter is adapted to be pivoted about a centre Im, along guideways 7, 8. In operation, the tool stand is moved to the right in rapid traverse during which time the index drive and the work spindle are rotated by a constant running rapid traverse motor 16 through gearing and clutch 27-30, 32 and shaft 17. The generating movement is ended when a cam 67 on drum 5 actuates a switch 65, so that clutch 32 is released and a brake clutch 33 is actuated. Tool stand 4 moves into the full tooth depth position, whereupon brake 33 is released, a second clutch 31 connects feed motor 15 to shaft 17 and drum 5 and work shaft 58 are rotated at generating speed. Clutch 31 is disengaged when cam 66 actuates switch 64 and tool stand 4 is retracted at rapid traverse with clutch 32 engaged.
