Abstract

1437748 Automatic control of fuel injection in IC engines HITACHI Ltd 2 Sept 1974 [3 Sept 1973] 38197/74 Heading G3N A fuel injection system includes a pulse oscillator 10 producing pulses whose frequency varies with the inlet air-flow rate measured by meter 3. A rotation detector 12, typically the ignition distributor provides pulses proportional to engine speed which are used to set and reset bi-stable 13. In operation when bi-stable 13 is set the pulses out of oscillator 10 count up counter 11 until the next rotation pulse arrives which resets bi-stable 13 and allows higher frequency oscillator 14 to count down the counter 11. During this count down period the output AND gate is enabled to operate the fuel injector. In a modification, Fig. 5 (not shown) the up/ down counter is replaced by a latching circuit which holds the count until a comparator counter, energized from a higher frequency oscillator, reaches the stored count. The injection again occurs whilst the output of the higher frequency oscillator is being counted.
