Abstract

1437668 Insulated conductors PHELPS DODGE INDUSTRIES Inc 2 May 1974 [17 May 1973] 19223/74 Heading H1A A wire for winding an electromagnet comprises (Figs. 1, 2) a conductor 10 covered by a longitudinally wrapped elongated strip 12 of insulant material overlapping at the edges to receive a seam adhesive 13, and a top coat 14 of resinous material superimposed thereupon. The elongated strip may be wrapped twice round the conductor (Fig. 3, not shown) and the latter may be of rectangular or square section (Fig. 4, not shown) with 1¢ turns of insulant strip thereon. The conductor may be e.g. of copper or insulation. The insulant strip may be of paper, polyimide or polyamide or polyester film, asbestos, micanaceous, glass or fibrous fabric, or fibrous web; and the resin may be polyester, polyamide, polyimide, polyamide imide, epoxy, phenoxy, polyvinyl formal, polyvinyl butyrol, polycarbonate or polypropylene; and may be thermoplastic.
