Abstract

1437327 Two-part couplings RISTS WIRES & CABLES Ltd 11 Sept 1973 [23 Sept 1972] 44131/72 Heading H2E A coupling part comprises an insulating housing of two portions which slidably and detently interengage, and which is matable with a complementary part on a component, the direction of sliding being perpendicular to the direction of movement of the part during mating of the housing to the component part and the housing comprising a manually operable latch for locking the housing to the component. The housing comprises a hollow body 12 with two flanges 17, 18 and a lid 13 having channels (19, 21) which slidingly engage the flanges 17, 18 there being resilient fingers (not shown) on the lid which engage a wall of the body to retain the lid and body together. The lid has an end wall 25 in a slot 26 of which is slidingly retained the latch 27, the latter having a protrusion 28. In use the housing is inserted into an aperture of a motor vehicle alternator and locked therein by movement of the latch to cause the protrusion 28 to engage the alternator casing. The body has three passages (14, 15, 16) for receiving contacts (not shown) held by resilient barbs.
