Abstract
1436697 Injectors. HAWKER SIDDELEY DYNAMICS Ltd 7 May 1973 [7 Feb 1972] 5673/72 Heading F1E [Also in Division F4] In an aircraft, air-flow through a duct containing a heat exchanger 12 for cooling air or other fluid, is induced when ram air-flow is insufficient or lacking by an ejector having bars 15 with jet orifices 16 supplied by a common header 23, the bars 15 being located against the downstream face of the heat exchanger 12 between the outlets from the heat exchanger passages 17 through which the air in the duct flows, so as not to obstruct said flow. In the form shown, the heat exchanger 12 is a plate and fin matrix, and the bars 15 are secured to or integral with U-channel spacers 18 which bound passages 20 through which flows the air or other fluid to be cooled. The size and/or distribution of the orifices 16 may be selected to produce uniformity or non-uniformity in the flow distribution through the passages 17. The heat exchanger 12 may alternatively be of the shell and tube type, defining cooling air passages 17 in the duct 11.
